Bliss Edwards is about to graduate from college and still has hers. Sick of being the only virgin among her friends, she decides the best way to deal with the problem is to lose it as quickly and simply as possible– a one-night stand. But her plan turns out to be anything but simple when she freaks out and leaves a gorgeous guy alone and naked in her bed with an excuse that no one with half-a-brain would ever believe. And as if that weren’t embarrassing enough, when she arrives for her first class of her last college semester, she recognizes her new theatre professor. She’d left him naked in her bed about 8 hours earlier.
I received Losing It from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.
Losing It was a light, FUN New Adult read. This was one of the first books in the New Adult genre that I’ve read that didn’t include a disturbing, tragic, damaged past and/or behavior. I can only take those gut wrenching books a few times a month (they can be QUITE emotional for me). Anyway, Losing It was exactly how I wanted it to be, and for that Ms. Carmack… I thank you! I breezed through Losing It, because it was one of those addicting reads, where we jumpred right into the story! So guess what? Our main character, Bliss, is a virgin (for shame!… JK), and her BFF, Kelsey, wants Bliss to lose IT. And when I say IT… I mean… doing the nasty/gettin’ it on/sexytimes… you know. All of that! That is how our story begins and it carries us through the whole book.
Bliss was a likable enough main character. She had never met any guy that she was close enough and/or sexually attracted to enough to want to be intimate with them. Being a Type A person, Bliss also wants to be the one in control… and giving herself to a guy would be a challenge to for her. The other characters were good, too. Garrick is the object of Bliss’ affection, and he sounds like the total package. He has a British accent, he’s incredibly handsome, he owns a motorcycle (of course), and did I mention he has a British accent?? On top of Bliss’ awkwardness on trying to lose it with Garrick, he also ends up being her newest professor! That’s some bad luck for an almost 1 Night Stand! I like the love story between Bliss and Garrick. There’s a bit of a love triangle, because one of Bliss’ best friends has feelings for her. Fear not… Cade gets his story in Faking It, and it’s AWESOME! Kelsey was a good enough character, too. I’m looking forward to her story, too!
This book was a 3-4 star book for me. I love how it didn’t take itself too seriously. It was full of laughs, awkward scenes, and romance. I would recommend this book to anyone!
