B.O.S.SF Review: largelargelargelarge

Goodreads: Virginity.

Bliss Edwards is about to graduate from college and still has hers. Sick of being the only virgin among her friends, she decides the best way to deal with the problem is to lose it as quickly and simply as possible– a one-night stand. But her plan turns out to be anything but simple when she freaks out and leaves a gorgeous guy alone and naked in her bed with an excuse that no one with half-a-brain would ever believe. And as if that weren’t embarrassing enough, when she arrives for her first class of her last college semester, she recognizes her new theatre professor. She’d left him naked in her bed about 8 hours earlier.

I received Losing It from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

Losing It was a light, FUN New Adult read.  This was one of the first books in the New Adult genre that I’ve read that didn’t include a disturbing, tragic, damaged past and/or behavior.  I can only take those gut wrenching books a few times a month (they can be QUITE emotional for me).  Anyway, Losing It was exactly how I wanted it to be, and for that Ms. Carmack… I thank you!  I breezed through Losing It, because it was one of those addicting reads, where we jumpred right into the story!  So guess what? Our main character, Bliss, is a virgin (for shame!… JK), and her BFF, Kelsey, wants Bliss to lose IT.  And when I say IT… I mean… doing the nasty/gettin’ it on/sexytimes… you know.  All of that!  That is how our story begins and it carries us through the whole book.

Bliss was a likable enough main character.  She had never met any guy that she was close enough and/or sexually attracted to enough to want to be intimate with them.  Being a Type A person, Bliss also wants to be the one in control… and giving herself to a guy would be a challenge to for her.  The other characters were good, too.  Garrick is the object of Bliss’ affection, and he sounds like the total package.  He has a British accent, he’s incredibly handsome, he owns a motorcycle (of course), and did I mention he has a British accent??  On top of Bliss’ awkwardness on trying to lose it with Garrick, he also ends up being her newest professor!  That’s some bad luck for an almost 1 Night Stand!  I like the love story between Bliss and Garrick.  There’s a bit of a love triangle, because one of Bliss’ best friends has feelings for her.  Fear not… Cade gets his story in Faking It, and it’s AWESOME!  Kelsey was a good enough character, too.  I’m looking forward to her story, too!

This book was a 3-4 star book for me.  I love how it didn’t take itself too seriously.  It was full of laughs, awkward scenes, and romance.  I would recommend this book to anyone!

Mailbox Roundup Week 4: 5/12/13

Hello fellow Bookworms!  Hope you all had a pleasant week full of reading and other fun activities!  Did anyone see Great Gatsby?  The movie times didn’t fit my schedule, so I hope to go next week.  Wanted to share the goodies that I got this week!

Via publisher:

The Trail of the Dead (Scarlet Bernard #2) by Melissa F. Olson

I am so, so, so excited for the sequel to Dead Spots!  The cliffhanger at the end left me NEEDING to hear what happens next, and I know that there is a lot more for Scarlet to learn about her abilities.  I will be starting The Trail of the Dead later this week.  Can you tell that I’m excited!  In the upcoming weeks, I will be featuring an exclusive interview with author Melissa F. Olson, which I am excited to share with you all!

Via NetGalley:

The Boleyn King (The Boleyn Trilogy #1) by Laura Anderson

I’ve had my eye on this one since it’s been sitting in my book bestie, Danielle’s, TBR column in her blog!

Losing It UK

Losing It (Losing It #1) by Cara Carmack

I actually got Faking It (see below) first via Edelweiss, so it was SO exciting to have NetGalley grant me access to Losing It!  Will be starting this VERY soon!!!

Via Edelweiss:

Faking It (Losing It #2) by Cara Carmack

See above…. Woo!  Excited for books 1 & 2!

OCD Love Story by Corey Ann Haydu

The Summer I Became A Nerd by Leah Rae Miller

Via Little Blogger, Big Ambitions:

Dead Silence (The Body FInder #4) by Kimberly Derting

Thank you to Cuddlebuggery for the #LBBA program & MsAshleighPage for donating this book!  I’ll be reading this in June or July 🙂

Via Goodreads First Reads Giveaway:

A Soul For Vengeance (Soulbearer, #3) by Crista McHugh

Confession: May has been a ridiculous month for me regarding the Goodreads First Reads Giveaways.  In the first 11 days of May, I won 7 books.  Yes…. crazy, right?  Are you wondering if I’ve purchased any Lotto tickets?  Or booked a flight to Vegas?  My BF thinks the odds might be in my favor this month!  Anyway, I will definitely be reading the Soulbearer trilogy!

This Side of the Grave (Night Huntress, #5) by Jeaniene Frost

LOVE Cat & Bones!  I plan on picking up the Night Huntress series again soon.  JF announced that Up From the Grave will be released in January, so I have a little bit of catching up to do before then!

Falling Into You (Falling #1) by Jasinda Wilder

I’ve seen this all over social media, so I took advantage of the $1.99 sale!

SF Library:

The Program cover

The Program (The Program #1) by Suzanne Young

I’ve heard great preliminary reviews for the latest dystopian series!  (Thanks for the glowing review and recommendation, Kelley!) Side note: One of the many reasons that I love living in SF is their library!  I put myself on the waiting list for The Program a few weeks ago while it was still at the vendor, so I am literally the first person to check out the copy I took home!  Cool, right? (Or is this another sign that I am a major nerd?)

Unraveling (Unraveling #1) by Elizabeth Norris

Anyone read this series?

Die for Me US New

Die for Me (Revenants #1) by Amy Plum

Or this one?

Anyway, THANK you for checking in and seeing what I’m up to! Would love to hear any of your thoughts.  Hope you all have an enjoyable week!  Can you believe we’re almost into June?  Stay classy, Planet Earth!

Mailbox Roundup Week 3: 5/5/13

Hello and Happy Cinco de Mayo!

Hope that you all have a wonderful week & weekend!  The San Francisco Bay area had phenomenal weather… 80s & sunshine almost every day!

My week was a bit busier with work, so I have some making up to do for my May ARC Challenge!  Anyway, let’s get to the good stuff!

From NetGalley:

This Girl (Slammed #3) by Colleen Hoover

OMG, OMG, OMG!  When I got an email at 6am that NetGalley had 300 copies ready to download, you should have seen me jump out of bed.  Something you should know about me is that I am all about the snooze in the mornings…. but this email got me up like there was a fire in the building.  My book twin, Danielle, and I are going to be reading the Slammed series in June.  I think we may do a readalong on our blogs.  Who’s in!?!?!

From Edelweiss:

Hearts in Darkness (Nikki and Michael #2) by Keri Arthur

Chasing the Shadows (Nikki & Michael #3) by Keri Arthur

I’m sorry, but holy boobs, Batman!  Curious to read about this Niki character to see how she is described in the book or if the cover artist just went to town on her.  ANYWAY, Love the prospect of a sexy, new paranormal series 🙂  I have Book 1 to review in July!

Naked (Blackstone Affair #1) by Raine Miller

Squee!  Been wanting to read these, so I am going to add these to my May ARC challenge =)

All In (Blackstone Affair #2) by Raine Miller

All the Summer Girls by Meg Donohue

A lot of the typical beach reads that I’ve read recently have been New Adult romances, so I’m excited to dive into a coming of age story about women.  These used to be my go-to books circa 2000’s, so it’ll be fun to shake up my YA/NA/Fantasy world!

The Deepest Night (The Sweetest Dark #2) by Shana Abe

I’ll have to read book 1 before August!

Walking Disaster (Beautiful #2) by Jamie McGuire

Despite all of the mixed reviews, I enjoyed Beautiful Disaster (Beautiful #1).  I’m excited to read Travis’ side of the story.

What did you all get?  What are you all reading?  I’m set to tackle Unhinged, Naked, Breathless, The Bane, & Miss Fortune Cookie this week!  Happy reading and enjoy your week!
